Right now, the streets in Iran are feeling a little different from what’s usual. Over the past month or so, Iranians have been coming out in the streets to protest the increasing price levels and government regulations. While initially these protests were small in scale, now they are becoming larger protests and are grabbing the world’s attention.
The government has responded by stepping up security in major cities, as well as restricting internet access in some regions. This has made it difficult for people to mobilize protests or inform others in other regions about what is happening. However, people have found ways of remaining connected despite all this. Amnesty International goes on to state, “Iranian authorities have increased their crackdown on peaceful protesters,” which shows the risks people take just to be heard.
One of the most interesting things in this situation is the number of young people involved. This not only includes their current life but also their future and the kind of life they would like to live. Some places have been closed for a while, which makes it even more difficult for the youth to concentrate on their books.
Despite all these challenges, people are still able to share their stories and experiences, especially through social media, and their voices are being heard from somewhere else. This shows that indeed all these are real issues, and they are still happening somewhere. As things continue to go on, one realizes that despite all the challenges, the determination of the people shows one that one should speak out, even if it is not easy to do so.
