As the spring season is approaching, softball season is approaching. Looking for a fun, competitive, and a great way to make friends to join the softball team. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the sport, in simple terms it’s baseball for women, with slight differences. The main difference is that it is played on a smaller field with a larger ball.
If you express an interest in joining the team but are scared because you never played the sport before, don’t be! Here at Flushing, both the varsity and junior varsity make sure to teach the fundamentals that are needed for you to succeed in the sport. She welcomes everyone no matter your skill set and also teaches you all the basic skills.
If you are interested in joining and you are a freshman or sophomore you can join the junior varsity team and if you are a junior or senior you can join the varsity team. On the junior varsity team you will be coached by coach Kissane and on the varsity team you will be coached by coach Soto. Both of these coaches are amazing as they value and care for their players.
Besides just joining one of the softball teams to have some to put on your college application the softball team offers many more benefits. Being on the team gives you the opportunity to make and build new friendships. As softball isn’t just about winning it’s all about creating unforgettable memories with teammates. It also provides you with something to do after school and helps you become more active.
If you are interested in playing softball this year to represent your school, you can stop by the fitness room to talk to coach Soto or coach Kissane.
