The transition from middle school to high school is probably one of the most challenging things a teenager can experience. The transition process is different for all of us. Going from middle school to high school is something that truly impacts us even when we don’t realize it.
As a freshman in high school, we are expected to stay on top of our assignments. Also, we are advised to maintain a ninety or higher overall average, as this is something that helps you in the future when it comes to college. However, good grades are not the only thing that colleges look at when it comes to selecting the best candidate for their schools.
Aside from good grades, colleges also look at extracurricular activities, such as sports teams and clubs. So it is best to stay involved in the school community as it provides many different opportunities. Attending school events and sports game is one way to do so. You can also join a sports team or club. Flushing High School offers multiple sports team, for both male and female, while offering a variety of different clubs to choose from.
Freshman year is the most crucial year of high school, as it sets the tone for the rest of high school and helps shape a student’s future. As a freshman, it is best to be a leader and not a follower. In high school, you will see things that people do such as skipping class, being a hallway walker, and not being respectful to teachers. My suggestion for freshmen is to lead by example and do the right thing, that makes you a leader.
Freshman year marks the beginning of new chapter in our lives and lays the foundation for our entire high school experience. So, my advice to you, if you’re a freshman reading this, is to take your freshman year as a chance to explore all the different opportunities that our school has to offer. Also, use freshman year to help you explore and build connections! These connections established during your freshman year is what will help you get through your high school years.
