Palestine and Israel are at war for territorial expansion; however, this is a mere oversimplification, as it is a deeply historically rooted issue.

To be honest with you all, this story has been a little hard for me to write. You may be confused about how it’s hard to write a simple news story. But this story is far more far-fetched than it meets the eye. I have been attempting to write this for the past 2 weeks. Failing over and over again because this is a rapidly changing topic that changes every day. Just days ago, the president of the United States reached an agreement that holds a ceasefire in Gaza. But just days later, attacks on Gaza continued, claiming the lives of +20 innocent civilians. You may be wondering,” Why should I care about what’s happening in this so-called GAZA?”. Well, you may change your mind by the end of this article.

Since October 7th two years ago, Gaza has experienced ongoing violence as conflict between Hamas and Israeli Defense Forces devastates the strip and has resulted in over 50,000 civilian deaths. This conflict is rooted in decades-old disputes over land between Palestinian and Jewish settlers. The struggle for territory now dominates life in Gaza, creating daily tragedy.

According to Gaza sources, the Red Cross reports that people face constant danger, with children dying from hunger and families seeking safety that remains out of reach. While Israeli news sources focus on military gains against Hamas, these perspectives often neglect the continuous humanitarian crisis affecting innocent civilians caught in the prolonged conflict.

Trump has now slowly started to pitch in on this heated topic, telling news outlets in recent statements, “We have a very strong PEACE in the Middle East, and I believe it has a good chance of being EVERLASTING,” which has left some people dumbfounded due to the nature of Trump’s statements, which usually signify his hypocrisy.

Unlike all of his other statements or interventions on wars, which have slowly created a negative reputation for the United States in global conflicts, Trump really believes he is the key to sustaining peace. But all Gaza needs is for Israeli forces to stop attacking them, and for Israel as a nation to recognize them as a state like the other 76.2% of [UN Recognized States] that recognize Palestine as its own state of power.

Now with all of this in mind, we should all consider what the Palestinians. As entitled to life as the rest of us, we are experiencing. We should understand the hardships they are facing, because it not only signifies the greed for power in this world but how we as humans treat one another, and who we have significance to.
